The End
I was starting to lose interest in the book in the middle but the action picked up in the end and I got more interested. I think it was a predictable ending that he would kill the Shade, they would win the war, and Eragon would be the hero. So I thought it was not a very good ending. All though the ending did want me to read the next book so the author did a good job with the ending. I think Eragon connected with Murtagh and Brom in kind of the same way. He did not trust either when he first meet them but trusted them more as the book went on. But you can tell he had more of a connection with Brom. You can tell when he said that Brom would be proud of him killing the Shade but he did not think Murtagh in the end at all. This book was a good read and I am glad I read it and I think I will read the other two books.

I agree that the ending wasnt as good as it couldve been, but that was probably because paolini wanted to leave the series open for his next 3 books. I also think that murtagh wouldve been just as proud as eragon, but the varden kind of forced there friendship to end.
